The Coffin Lids, out of Boston, play wild and wooly garage rock n' roll, and I stress the rock n' roll. It's really hard for me to make a correlation with their sound and other bands--but here they remind me of the Neins or Booker T and the MG's crossed with the Humpers or maybe a little like Murder City Devils. Realize that they are definitely more on the rockin' side of the spectrum, but they are blessed with good taste. Straight up rawk goes straight to the trash bin for me nowadayz anyways. Standout songs on here include - I'm Gonna Have My Way (with the 5678's), Action, Tonight You're Going to Die. Everything else on the cd is still way listenable. Bands like the Coffin Lids and The Mistreaters just may fill the void left by bands like the Makers in previous years, as said Makers continue to spiral into irrelevance with hairspray, scarves, and unrivaled egomania. Coffin Lids - 'Round Midnight- is a winner and immediately goes into heavy rotation here at www.x2rr.com
