Made it out to Mr T's Bowl in LA for the King Khan & BBQ Show...Kind of a weird scene at Mr. T's. Lots of aged barflys, belligerent illegals, and gong show rejects for the open mic nite. Ended up hanging outside for a bit and was more than impressed with my brothers new found friend repeatedly pantomiming his gunning down of the president, George Bush. There was also a guy there with his face painted like a skull, singing threw some kind of voice senthisizer to god awful goth tunes...by far the biggest oddball of the nite. But I digress... King Khan & BBQ show were absolutely amazing. They ran through their more popular tunes and covers: Fish Fight, Waddlin' Around, Chuck - a - Muck, and Out of Time to name a few. They have such a rockin' attitude. Fun, Fun, and more fun was the agenda of the night. Hell, King Khan even did a wardrobe change mid song on stage as he became a dead ringer for Tina Turner (post-beating). The energy of the band was contagious and about 30 die hard fans danced to their hearts content before storming the stage (as invited) for the last song of the night. If you can't get into the rock n' roll that these guys deliver, then it's time for a head check or an impromptu ear exam. If you get a chance check them out on the remainder of their US tour. You'll be glad that you did. I know I was...Look for new photos this weekend at www.x2rr.com . Big thanks to Erin Martinez for snapping pics.
